There will be a maximum of 20 teams allowed in this years event.
Each team is allowed a max of 7 and a min of 4 riders. Complete team,
including spannermen and
helpers, not to number more than 10.
If any race is cancelled
due to bad weather or cricket on the telly as much notice will be given to
the teams as is possible - please provide contact details with your entry -
but the C90 council accepts no liability in respect of late cancellation of
races'.
Machines
All bikes entered must be a
Honda C90.
What is a Honda C90?
For the purposes of this race series a Honda C90
is considered to be an original Honda frame, an original engine (or pattern
copy) and leg guards. ie. you might have a C50 or a C70, but to us it’s a C90.
A team can have any number
of bikes or parts of bikes but the frame of any bike entered for a round
must be the only frame that is used throughout the duration of that round.
Original frames must be
used, but can be cut or braced as required.
The leg guards MUST be kept
in place regardless of other modifications.
No weapons of ANY
description are to be fitted to your machine.
Cubic Capacity.
Cubic capacity of the engine will be checked during scrutineering. The barrel
must have the cubic capacity visible and must not exceed 90cc.
Scrutineering
Scrutineering will be
undertaken prior to the race start, by the more mechanically minded members
of the event committee and the team manager, their decision of if your
machine is fit to race is FINAL.
Leg guards may have to be
removed during the inspection.
Front and rear brakes must
be functional.
An engine kill switch must
be functional.
The bike does not need to be
street legal or have an MOT but must be safe to ride. I.e. no loose
bodywork, hanging wires, sharp edges, loose wheels etc.
Cycle Computers
A
bicycle computer will be fitted to each team’s machine for calculating the
distance covered in each race. This will be supplied by the event committee.
The speed magnet and sensor
will be provided with instructions to the teams for fitting prior to round
1. These will be checked for correct fitment during scruitineering.
The magnet and sensor are to
be fitted to the FRONT wheel only.
The cycle computers are
randomly selected and will be calibrated along with the wheel measurements
taken by the race director with the team captain present.
During the race it is the
responsibility of each team to ensure that their computer continues to
function.
The calibration will be
checked at the end of the race along with the completed mileage.
The
Race
The races will be held over 4 hours and
the team that completes the greatest distance within the 4 hour time frame
will be declared the winners.
The race will be started in a "Le Mans"
style with the bikes being held, already running, by a team member on one
side of the track and the riders on the other.
Before the start of the
R1 race, a series of mini agility tests, loosely akin to trials riding, will
decide the position of bikes on the grid and the time penalty before they
may start. Thereafter at following rounds, the finishing order of the
previous round will be reversed and used to decide grid places – so the
first shall be last, at least at the beginning on the race.
Each team's bike will have its odometer
reset on the starting line by an official. At the end of the race all
remaining bikes will be directed to park ferme and the mileage taken. If
your odometer breaks down during the race, there will be a spare available;
the race director MUST be present to record the mileage of the disabled unit
and to check the calibration of the replacement. It is the team's
responsibility to make sure that the odometer is recording mileage during
the race.
There will be a sin-bin rule which will be
used for any infringement of the rules or dangerous riding. The race
director will black flag any team who they believe have broken a rule or
acted dangerously, a sin-bin penalty is for 5 minutes. The 5 min penalty
clock will only start once the bike is stopped in the designated sin-bin
area and penalised team members have ceased any discussions as to their
reason of entry, then and only then will the 5 minutes start. The race
directors decision on this is final.
If a bike breaks down or a rider crashes,
all bikes will be bought to a stop under a red flag in a designated 'stop
box' on the circuit, this will be identified to all competitors on the day
of the event during briefing. All riders will be held there until the
incident has been cleared. Racing will commence on the showing of a green
flag. Any rider disregarding the stop box rule will have their team
disqualified from the race. Regardless of the positioning of the Stop Box,
no work can be done to the bikes and no rider changes are allowed under the
'Red Flag'.
Pit lane and paddock, there is a STRICT
5mph speed limit in force anyone seen breaking it or riding dangerously will
be give a sin-bin penalty.
All bikes MUST be worked on only in the pit area or paddock.
All rider changes must be undertaken in the pit area.
All bikes must start and finish the race under power to score points, if
your machine does not make the start or the finish your team is marked as
DNS/DNF.
If any team wishes to complain about the
conduct of another team or the result of the round they must do so to the
race director BEFORE the champagne cork is popped at the end of the days
racing. No complaints will be accepted after the cork has popped.
Sponsorship
Every team taking part is required to
raise a minimum of £300 sponsorship during the season.
This must be produced within a month of the final race. Otherwise your
results will be deleted from the championship and you’ll be barred from
entering in 2008.
Sorry if this seems a bit harsh, but it’s to emphasise the importance of the
charitable side to these events and to deter chancers turning up for fun and
not contributing.
It also means that, say we have 15 teams racing at each round, we can
guarantee a basic £4,500 to the charity, never mind all the raffle money,
cash tins and other ways people find to raise cash.
We know from experience that many sponsors don’t pay up until the season is
over, hence the month’s grace after the final round.
However, if the money isn't produced by then, this rule will be strictly
enforced.
